Meet Abigail! Our Lucky Lady model and free spirited, world traveling blogger of Far and Wild Jewelry
Name: Abigail Lind
Blog: Far and Wild Jewelry
Why do you love jewelry? What’s not to love?
What is your jewelry style? Methodic eclectic. Kind of like my life.I like to mix flea market finds from around the world with high street finds, vintage with new, designer with costume, and gold with silver. If I like it, it’s finding a way into the mix. But I’m not really the pile on type. There’s always kind of a rhyme and reason to my combinations.
What was the inspiration for your blog? My travels. I started the blog as way to document my trips around the world in search of amazing jewelry. It’s harder for me to come up with posts when I’m off the road than when I’m on it!
How do you balance life as a blogger/have it all? By waking up early and tricking myself into feeling like I’m having two full days for every one.
What is a jewelry trend you love? Hate? I love the first knuckle ring trend and the trend of draping a necklace backwards. I like seeing jewelry in unconventional places. The only jewelry trend I would ever hate is if no jewelry at all suddenly became fashionable. [ed. note: that would be tragic!]
Who are your jewelry icons? Who wears it best? Pamela Love for her southwestern chic, Erin Wasson for her ability to mix flea market finds, Elsa Schiaparelli for her surrealist spin on jewelry, Delfina Delettrez for being the modern day Elsa Schiaparelli, Mary Kate Olsen for her unique pieces, Elizabeth Taylor for her love of jewelry, Leandra Medine for bringing “arm party” into the fashion lexicon, and 70s Cher for her turquoise.I love how Erin Wasson wears jewelry. Her jewelry style has such an effortless quality to it.It never looks contrived, it looks completely organic and that’s a look that really speaks to me.
What do you like the best from the new collection? I love the Scarlet earrings.
How will you wear it? The better question is how won’t I wear them—because I’m never taking them off. I really love wearing one at a time and pairing it with some layered gold chains so that Scarlet really gets the spotlight.
Where is the SQxFW girl going? The SQxFW girl is a summer babe who’s ready for anything. She’s on the open road and beach bound in her Rosie headband. She’s headed to outdoor concerts in the Pam necklace and the Liv headband. She’s the queen of the backyard BBQ in her Priscilla necklace and Veronica earrings. She’s 4th of July ready in her Kiki headband and her trio of Cleos in coral, white, and blue.
What are your strongest jewelry memories? One of my earliest jewelry memories involves a very 90s black satin choker with a heart locket on it.Growing up, the mall used to have these little fashion shows in the children’s department. My brothers and I were all going to be in one and they had picked out matching outfits for the three of us. A nonmatching outfit nearby caught my eye and featured the aforementioned black satin choker. I asked if I could wear that outfit instead and they said that I could but that I’d have to walk by myself since I wouldn’t match my brothers anymore. I was painfully shy growing up and going out in front of a bunch of people by myself was the most daunting task I could imagine. Emboldened by that choker I went out there and did it. I remember believing that all my courage came from that choker. It’s probably a big part of why I wear so much jewelry.
What piece that you own means the most to you? I really believe that every piece of jewelry tells a story so this is such a hard question for me. Since I can’t pick a favorite piece, I’ll share a favorite story. I came to New York with my family when I was young and I told them that I wanted to move here. During that trip my parents got me this little gold apple necklace and told me that since I loved New York so much they thought I would like being able to keep a piece of the big apple with me as a little memory of New York for when we got home. Now that I live in New York it feels like a little memory of home.
